Marlene E. Johnson

Funeral service for Marlene E. Johnson, 62, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 23, 2012 at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Aberdeen at a later date. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.

Prayer service will be 5 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2012 at the mortuary. Visitation will be 4-5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service on Monday, all at the mortuary. Friends may sign her online guest book at the bottom of the page.

Marlene passed away Monday, January 16, 2012, at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen. Blessed be her memory.

Marlene E. Pulfrey was born on December 5, 1949 at Claremont, South Dakota to Louis and Lorraine (De Walt) Pulfrey. This is the area where she was raised and attended school, graduating from Barnard High School with the Class of 1967.

Marlene was united in marriage to Kenneth Johnson in August of 1968 at Aberdeen. Their union was blessed with three children, Derrick, Kenny Jr. and Amanda. The family resided in Aberdeen, where Marlene provided daycare service for many years. She loved her work and cared for every child as if they were her own. Marlene continued to make Aberdeen her home until the time of her death.

Marlene enjoyed attending garage sales and watching sports, especially football and was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings. She also enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping. Most of all, Marlene loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Surviving Marlene are her husband Kenneth of Aberdeen; two sons, Derrick Johnson and Kenny Johnson Jr., both of Aberdeen; one daughter, Amanda Anderson of Aberdeen; two brothers, Wayne (Becky) Pulfrey of Webster, SD and Bruce (Michelle) Pulfrey of Oakes, ND; two sisters, Carla (Howard) Norton of Aberdeen and Martha (Doug) Lutz of Aberdeen; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant sister, Vickie.
