Memorial services celebrating the life of Ione Pauline Johnson, 91, Aberdeen, will be at 1:00pm Tuesday, January 3, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1620 Milwaukee Ave. NE, with Pastor Deb Grismer officiating. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Riverside Memorial Park, Aberdeen, SD. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW is in charge of arrangements.
Ione passed away Friday, December 30, 2011 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor Retirement Community, Aberdeen, SD. Blessed be her memory.
Ione was born November 12, 1920 to August John and Freda (Westberg) Hedlund in Red Wing, MN. She attended school and graduated from high school in Red Wing, MN. Ione then attended secretarial school in St. Paul, MN, where she met Harry Johnson.
Ione and Harry M. Johnson were united in marriage June 18, 1941 in Red Wing, MN. They lived briefly in North Dakota, Montana, Idaho and Minnesota as Harry pursued employment in the trucking and transportation business. They made Aberdeen their home in 1947, where Harry owned and operated Jobbers Warehouse.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, relaxing and entertaining at her beloved lake home on Pickerel Lake, the family retreat for many years.
Ione is preceded in death by: her husband, Harry, her parents, her sisters, Elaine Reynolds, Dorothy Price, Geneva Leverenz and her brother, Norman Hedlund.
