Mass of Christian Burial for Frank J. Hilt, 102, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 28, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 502 2nd Avenue SE, Aberdeen with Father Shaun Haggerty officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.
Liturgical wake, followed by Knights Of Columbus Rosary, will be 5 p.m., Sunday, November 27, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m., Sunday, at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to Avera Mother Joseph Manor Chapel Fund.
Frank passed away Thursday, November 24, 2011 at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen. Blessed be his memory.
Frank Hilt was born on April 26, 1909 in Hague, North Dakota to Lukas and Mary Ann (Helplin) Hilt. He began working for the Milwaukee Railroad at the age of 16.
On November 26, 1931, Frank was united in marriage to Rose Kocher. Their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Rosemary and Lorraine. Frank continued to work for the railroad and advanced from a Section Laborer to a Roadmaster. He retired from the railroad in 1972 and he and Rose established their retirement home in Aberdeen.
Frank was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen, where he volunteered for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Surviving Frank are his two daughters, Rosemary Petersen of Hampstead, NC and Lorraine (Bill) George of Overgaard, AZ; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose; one brother and one sister.
