Darlene Marie Haselhorst

Funeral service for Darlene Marie Haselhorst, 78, Cresbard, will be 10am Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Ipswich, with Rev. Nathan Henschen officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Mellette. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be 4-7pm Monday with a prayer service at 7 pm at the church, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

Darlene went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family on Friday, September 23, 2011 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.

Darlene Marie was born December 30, 1932 to Louis and Ruth (Eske) Lee. She attended school in Brentford, SD and graduated from Northville High School. Darlene and Delbert Haselhorst were united in marriage September 23, 1952 in Aberdeen, SD. They made their home on a farm in the Cresbard area where they raised their family.

She loved spending time with her family and life on the farm with her cats, dogs and gardening.

Darlene was the church treasure of the Ladies Aid for many years and treasure of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans of the Ipswich Chapter.

Darlene had a strong belief in her Jesus Christ and enjoyed her fellowship with the ladies from Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Ipswich.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leon and Darwin, one granddaughter Hannah and one son-in-law, Richard Simon, and Dean Sandquist.

Grateful to have shared in Darlene's life are her husband, Delbert, Cresbard, her children, Deborah (DeLain) Diedtrich, Lakeville, MN., Lana (John) Phillips, Aberdeen, SD, Cindy (Russ) Schoenefeld, Watertown, SD, Diane (Dave) Johnson, Solen, ND, Pam (Wayne) Gehring, Rapid City, SD, Lee (Denise) Haselhorst, Cresbard, SD, Lynn (Jim) Phillips, Watertown, SD. One sister, Clara (Jim) Neiger of Rapid City, SD. Twenty-three grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Her pallbearers will be grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family prefers memorials.
