Mathilda "Tillie" Geffre

Mass of Christian Burial for Mathilda "Tillie" Geffre, 93, Aberdeen and formerly of Leola, SD, will be 2:00pm Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 409 2nd Ave. NE.  Father J. Joseph Holzhauser will be the celebrant of the Mass.  Burial at a later date will be at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery, Leola, SD.

Liturgical wake service will be 7pm Tuesday, March 22, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW.  Visitation will be 5-7pm Tuesday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday, at the church.

Mathilda passed away Sunday, March 20, 2011 at Aberdeen Health & Rehab.

Mathilda was born July 30, 1917 to Adam and Christiana (Pietz) Stoecker on the family farm near Hosmer, SD. and worked on the family farm. Mithilda and Francis Geffre were united in marriage February 23, 1952 in Spokan, WA.  They made their home in Leola where the owned and operated the "Geffre Café" until they sold it in 1975. Tillie loved the time with her grandchildren, and enjoyed dancing and having coffee with family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband in September of 1995, one daughter, Janet Marie Geffre and her siblings.

Grateful to have shared in Tillie's life is her son, Gailen (Karlene) Geffre and her two grandchildren, Allison and Nick Geffre all of Aberdeen, SD.
