Mass of Christian Burial for Rita Elizabeth Fix, 85, Aberdeen, will be 9:30 am Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 409 2nd Ave. NE, Aberdeen, with Father J. Joseph Holzhauser officiating. Burial will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Onaka, SD. Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW, is in charge of arrangements.
Liturgical wake and rosary will begin at 5 pm Tuesday, December 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Visitation will be 3-5pm Tuesday and for a half hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday, all at the church.
Rita passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen. Blessed be her memory.
March 14, 1926 to Joe and Mary (Goetz) Waldman at her parents farm northeast of Onaka in Clark Township. She attended Clark County School and graduated from Onaka High School. She earned her teaching degree at Northern State and taught school at Enterprise Township.
She was united in marriage to Frank Fix on October 7, 1947. They made their home on a farm 5 miles east of Onaka and farmed together until Frank’s death on September 17, 1998. She continued to live on the farm until 2007 when she moved into Onaka. In April of 2009, she moved to Aberdeen until Saturday, December 24, 2011 when God called her home.
Rita had many passions in her life: her family, friends, baking, dancing and her will to work hard and enjoy life to the fullest each day.
Thankful for her life are her sons, Gene Fix, Earl (Sherry) Fix and Jeff (Marie) Fix, her daughters, Marlene (Calvin) Tuchseherer and Shirley (David) Holt, her sixteen grandchildren, Molly (Fix) Perry, Megan Fix, Jason Fix, Heidi (Fix) Ritchey, Nicole (Schumacher) Masur, Joshua Schumacher, Amber (Toennies) Carda, Ashlee (Toennies) Haselhorst, Matthew Toennies, Christopher Fix, Derek Holt, Brittany Holt, Adam Holt, Luke Holt, Stephanie Fix, Jennifer Fix, sixteen great grandchildren and one brother, Pius (Clara) Waldman.
Rita’s parents, husband and her son, Allen Fix, and her grandson Kevin Fix, daughter-in-law, Jill Fix and her sister Marce Wanner preceded her in death.
