Memorial service for Donna M. Erickson, 74, of Aberdeen will be 11:00am Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at First United Methodist Church, Aberdeen. Pastor Tom Haggar will be officiating. Donna's wishes were to be cremated and burial of her cremated remains will be at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery. Schriver's memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Visitaion will be 5-7pm Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the mortuary. Friends may sign her online guest book the bottom of the page.
Donna passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Blessed be her memory.
Donna M. Blume was born December 12, 1936 to Kenneth and Doris (Mommer) Blume at Redfield, SD where she was raised and graduated from Redfield High School. She also attended Aberdeen Business College. She was employed with E.C. Rhodes in Aberdeen for several years.
Donna married John Erickson July 2, 1957 at Redfield. They moved to Aberdeen. John owned and operated the Parcel-Erickson Gas Station and Donna did all of the bookkeeping and accounting. They later bought a Bulk Oil Plant called Parcel Oil Company which they operated until they retired in November of 1997. Three months after their retirement, John passed away in February of 1998 and Donna continued to make Aberdeen her home.
Donna was an active member of the First United Methodist Church, especially with the Organ Guild. She was also a member of the Daughters of the Nile and the Eastern Star.
Donna was an avid card player, belonging to many card playing clubs. She also enjoyed reading, playing and calling bingo at her apartment complex, listening to Sharol play bells and she especially loved attending her grandchildrens activities.
Surviving Donna are, two daughters, Sharol Erdmann of Ipswich, SD and Faye (Paul) Ward of Baltic, SD, one brother, Doug (VaLynn) Blume of Salt Lake City, UT, one sister-in-law, Lorretta (Elmer) Wolf of Aberdeen and three grandchildren, Christopher Erdmann, of Ipswich, Robert Erdmann of Ipswich and Emily Steinhouse of Baltic, SD.
Donna was preceded in deathby her parents, her husband, one infant daughter Cindy Erickson and one sister-in-law Louise McNickle.
