Helen Drager

Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Drager, 93, Aberdeen, will be 10am Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Ave. SE with Father Kevin Zilverberg officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen.

Liturgical wake service and Rosary will begin at 7pm Tuesday, March 15, at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Ave. NW. Visitation will be 4-7pm Tuesday, at the mortuary and one hour prior to the funeral Mass on Wednesday, at the church.

Helen passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital, Aberdeen.

Helen Brendel was born September 9, 1917 to Walter and Bernadine (Geier) Brendel in Aberdeen, SD.  She attended St. Mary's Parochial School and the family moved to Bowdle, SD, for a short time and then they moved back to Aberdeen, where Helen graduated from Aberdeen Central High School in 1937.

Helen and Owen Drager were united in marriage August 15, 1940 in Winona, MN.  They returned to Aberdeen in 1943 where they made their home.  Helen was employed with "Sonotone Of The Dakota's" for over 25 years as a secretary and other various jobs, until they closed their Aberdeen office in 1962.  She then worked for an insurance company for a short time and then part time employment until her retirement in 1983.

Preceding Helen in death are her parents, husband on December 25, 1985, four sisters, Eva Nelson, Joanne Heilman, Marie Chandler and Rose Jeanneret.

Grateful to have shared in Helen's life are her siblings, Walter Brendel, George Brendel, Catherine Gross and Beatrice (Lawrence) Hawkins all of Aberdeen, SD.
