Charles Ian Currie was born January 28, 1935 to Donald Archibald and Helen Genevieve (Tobin) Currie in Sault St. Marie, Ontario Canada. The family moved to South Dakota after the death of his father. He attended and graduated high school in Mitchell, SD. Chuck then attended Dakota Weslyn Univ., Mitchell and Univ. of Minnesota, Duluth. He was active in the US Army from 1954-1956, stationed at Ft. Leonardwood, MO. Chuck also received an Associate Degree in alcohol and drug abuse studies from the Univ. of South Dakota in 1983.

Chuck married Karen Erickson in June, 1964 in Webster, SD. Chuck and Karen lived in Aberdeen and had three girls. Chuck worked at Tempo, Feinsteins Bootery, Club 23, Moose Lodge, Airport Lounge, NADRIC, Prairie Crossings, and Adjustment Training Center. Chuck worked very hard to provide a happy, healthy, and loving home for his 3 daughters.

Chuck was "his girls" and his grandkids #1 fan. He enjoyed attending the grandkids' school concerts and sporting events. He could always be found at his grandkids hockey games, sitting on the bottom bleacher with his "tuc" on, cheering them on. Holidays and all the "good groceries" were another favorite of dad's. With a full belly and all of his family around, he often wondered "what the poor people were doing." Chuck was a true blue Minnesota Viking fan and could be found every Sunday, with his eyes glued to the "idiot tube", hoping they could pull out a win.

Chuck died August 18th at Avera Mother Joseph Manor in Aberdeen, after a hard battle with Rheumatoid Meningitis. His daughters were all present, whether physically or in spirit, holding him and telling him how much they loved him.

Chuck will live forever in the hearts of his 3 girls, Christine Albrecht, Blue Eye, Mo; Dawn (Steve) Birkla-Mauk, and Theresa (Rod) Huff of Aberdeen, SD. He is also survived by his sisters Margaret (Ralph) Mosher of Kenora, Ontario, Canada and Ruth Edfast of Grand Junction, CO; two sister-in-law's Mikki Currie of Auxvasse, Mo, and Virginia Currie of Oklahoma City, OK; 7 grandchildren (Andrea, Adam, Logan, Kelly, Kevin, Cameron, and Hailey); and 3 great-grandchildren (Gavin, Zane, and Zahra).

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Archie Currie, his step-father Allen Curtis, his brothers Neil and Mac Currie, and his ex-wife, but best friend, Karen Currie.

Chuck had many inspiring quotes that helped him through life's trials and tribulations, but his three favorites that he always tried to instill in his girls were, The Serenity Prayer, "tough times never last, but tough people do", and "never, never, never learn how to quit." He truly "loved his meeses to pieces" and we feel blessed knowing that.
