Walter H. "Wally" Blossey

Mass of Christian Burial for Walter "Wally" Blossey, 83, of Aberdeen, will be 10:30 am Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen.  Father Edward Pierce will be officiating.  Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery with military rites at a later date. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.

Liturgical wake service and a Knights Of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00pm Friday, January 14, 2011 at the mortuary.  Visitation will be 5-7pm Friday at the mortuary and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Friends may sign his online guest book at the bottom of the page.

Wally passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at his home.

Walter H. Blossey was born November 28, 1927 to William and Lucy (Nehl) Blossey at Bowdle, SD where he was raised and attended Nehl School rural Bowdle.  He later moved to Aberdeen and held various jobs until he was drafted into the US Army in February of 1946.  He served as a medic at Gardner General Hospital in Chicago, IL, Percy Jones General Hospital in Battle Creek, MI and Wakeman General Hospital at Camp Attabury, IN.

After his honorable discharge, he lived in Portland, OR where he worked in a department store for a short time.  He later moved to Iowa where he attended and graduated from Barber School.  He returned to Aberdeen where he owned and operated Wally's Barber Shop for over fifty years.  He retired in 1998 and continued to make Aberdeen his home.

Wally was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He volunteered and served in many areas of the church.  He was also member of the Roncalli Foundation, the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.

Wally enjoyed the many hunting and fishing trips with his buddies, visiting with family, friends and working in his flower and vegetable gardens.

Surviving Wally are many nieces and nephews. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Sacred Heart Church food pantry.
