Funeral service for William "Bill" Allbee Jr., 81, of Aberdeen will be 11:00am Monday, June 6, 2011 at Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen. Father Kevin Zilverberg will be officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at Westport with military honors. A time of fellowship and luncheon will follow the service at Schriver's Memorial Fellowship Center.
A prayer service will be 5:00pm Sunday, June 5, 2011 at the mortuary. Visitation will be 3-5pm Sunday and 9:00am till the time of the service Monday all at the mortuary. Friends may sign his online guest at the bottom of page.
Bill passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2011 with his family by his side at Avera St. Luke's Hospital.
William Howard Allbee Jr. was born June 12, 1929 to William Sr. and Charlotte (Leiber) Allbee at Faulkton, SD. He attended school at Loyalton, SD. He entered the US Marine Corp and served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
Bill married Marjorie Brotzel June 11, 1955 at Westport, SD. They farmed in the Loyalton area for a short time. He worked on the Oahe Dam and later for Oban Construction of Ipswich, SD. They moved to Aberdeen in 1962 and have resided here since that time. He worked for M & H Gas Station for several years. He was a truck driver for Herman Pickus from 1971 to 1979 and he also worked part time for Dan Dugan Transport until 1980. He then started working for Harms Oil where he was employed for over twenty-two years. After his retirement, he continued working part time at Wal-Mart as a door greeter until he permanently retired in 2010.
Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Church for many years, the American Legion and the Veterans Of Foreign Wars.
Bill enjoyed fixing things and tinkering on lawn mowers. He collected hats and ink pens and he especially loved teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving Bil l are his wife, Marjorie of Aberdeen, two sons, Bill (Tammey) Allbee of Aberdeen and Barry (Darcy) Allbee of Poulsbo, WA, two daughters, Debra (Dale Jensen) Underberg and Tracy (Mac) McClain both of Aberdeen, one sister, Dorothy Hall of New Hall, CA, ten grandchildren, Danielle (Evan) Stugelmeyer, Kayla (Jeff) Moss, Billy (Nicole) Allbee, Ashley Allbee, Ryan McClain, Amanda McClain, Chelsea Allbee, Marissa (Shane) Hall, Austin Allbee and Alex Allbee, eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
