Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanette M. Braunstein, 87, of Aberdeen, will be 11:00am Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen. Father Kevin Zilverberg will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Schriver's Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.
Liturgical wake service will be at 5:00pm Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the mortuary. Visitation will be 4-7pm Friday at the mortuary and for one hour prior to the service at the church, on Thursday. Friends may sign her online guest book at www.schriversmemorial.com.
Jeanette passed away Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Avera St. Luke's Hospital in Aberdeen.
Jeanette M. Mueller was born September 9, 1923 to Delbert and Florence (Thompson) Mueller at Oakes, ND. She attended school in Oakes and Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School in 1941. She continued with her education and attended Northern State College and Aberdeen Commercial College. She was employed by the United States Department of Agriculture as a secretary in Chicago, IL during World War II.
Jeanette married Phil J. Braunstein at Camp Hale, CO on September 15, 1943. After Phil's honorable discharge they lived in Beaumont, CA for a short time. They returned to Aberdeen in 1951 and Jeanette was employed with the Internal Revenue Office in Aberdeen for many years. Jeanette was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, including the Sacred Heart Altar Society Band #8. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Irish Club. She volunteered much of her time for many different organizations some of which were the St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary, the Brown County Democrats and Roncalli High School. She was also a Brownie and a Girl Scout Leader and she helped out with many blood drives.
Jeanette enjoyed oil painting as a hobby and many of her family and friends have been honored to receive her paintings as a gift. Surviving Jeanette are her three daughters, Linda Mitchell of Rapid City, SD, Susan Braunstein of Rapid City, SD and Anita Braunstein of Stillwater, MN, four grandchildren, Trish (Trent) Rodahl of Houghton, SD, Tara (Troy) Idhe of Spearfish, SD, Sean Hoops and Austin Hoops both of Stillwater, MN and two great grandchildren, McKenna and Taylor Idhe.
Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1990 and three sisters, Doris Hughes, Florence Mink and Helen Parnell.
