     Laurel “Lolly” Schumaker Sharp, 88, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016, at ManorCare Health Services in Aberdeen.

     Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Ave SE, Aberdeen, with Father Mark Lichter as Celebrant.

     Laurel’s wishes were to be cremated, with burial taking place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.  

     Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Ave NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

     Visitation will be one hour before Mass at church.  No visitation will take place at the mortuary.  Friends may sign Laurel’s online guestbook and also view her service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

     Memorials are preferred to Storybook Land.

     Laurel was born July 14, 1928, to Harrison and Esther (Snyder) Gearey in Mina, SD.  This is the area where she was raised and attended school before moving to Aberdeen for high school.  Following graduation from Aberdeen Central High School, Lolly began working at Mills Truck Terminal and was later employed as an operator with the telephone company.

     Laurel met Ralph Frank Schumaker at the roller-skating rink in Aberdeen and they were married on June 18, 1949.  To this union five children were born:  Annette, David, Rebecca, Carol, and William.  Lolly enjoyed raising her family on an active, working farm and was very involved with her children’s 4-H clubs and sporting events.  She was also an active member of Band 11 of Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s Altar Society, as well as her “exercise club” for over 40 years.  Lolly and Ralph loved going on trips to Las Vegas with their neighbors and friends.  Some of those trips occasionally ended with chips in their pockets!  They shared over 39 years of marriage before Ralph passed away in 1988.

     Laurel married Robert “Bob” Sharp in 1995, in Las Vegas, with all of their families present.  For many years, she and Bob enjoyed spending the winter months at their home in Mesa, AZ.  Bob passed away on August 4, 2016.  Lolly continued to reside in Aberdeen until the time of her death.  May she rest in peace.

     Survivors are her children:  Annette Enzaldo of Littleton, CO, Dave Schumaker of Aberdeen, Rebecca Mattern of Aberdeen, Carol Zastrow of Highlands Ranch, CO and William Schumaker of San Mateo, CA; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; Bob’s son, Gary (Donna) Sharp and their three children.

     Laurel is preceded in death by both husbands; her parents; her brother, Richard Gearey; her sister, Dorothy Hutchinson; and one son-in-law, Valente Enzaldo.
