     Julie Ann Hagen, 47, of Aberdeen, passed away Friday, March 10, 2017, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD.

     Her funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, March 17, 2017, at First United Methodist Church, 502 South Lincoln Street, Aberdeen, with Pastor John Hisel officiating.    

      Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen.    

     Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may sign Julie’s online guestbook and also view her service via the live stream service link at www.schriversmemorial.com.

     Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday, at the mortuary, with a public prayer service following at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation continues one hour before the service at the church.

     Julie Ann (Janish) Hagen was born April 1, 1969, in Webster, SD to George and Etta (Locke) Janish.  She was raised and attended school in Waubay, SD and graduated from Waubay High School with the Class of 1987.  Julie then furthered her education at Northern State University in Aberdeen.

     Julie was united in marriage to Kevin Hagen in Watertown, SD on September 22, 1989.  Their union was blessed with two sons, Joseph and Jeremy.  The family lived in Wallace, SD for a short time before making Aberdeen their home in 1992.  In addition to being a wife and mother, Julie also worked for Cendant Corporation, the Aberdeen American News, and most recently, Wyndham Hotel Group.

     Julie was very involved with Relay for Life and was an active member of First United Methodist Church serving as a Stephens Minister, a member of the Praise Band as the soundboard technician, knitting prayer shawls and participating in Women of Faith.  She loved cats, knitting, crocheting, riding motorcycles, baking and cooking and sharing recipes with others. Julie greatly enjoyed camping, campfires and spending time with family and friends.  She will forever be remembered for her accepting nature, making all who met her feel welcomed. Julie was a compassionate soul, always helping and caring for others in need.

     Grateful to have shared Julie’s life are her husband, Kevin Hagen of Aberdeen; her sons, Joseph (Sophia) Hagen of Minneapolis, MN and Jeremy (Sabrina Moffett) Hagen of Aberdeen; one grandson, Skyler Suddeth Hagen; four brothers:  Ron (Joanie) Janish of Aberdeen, Paul (Bebe) Janish of Charlotte, NC, Tom (Deb) Janish of Aberdeen and John Janish of Humboldt, SD; two sisters, Karen (Ken) Sinner of Waubay, SD and Mary (John) Rasmussen of Sauk Centre, MN; many nieces and nephews; as well as Ashlie and Sam Voeller and their children:  Shaylynn, Kayle and Aiden, who were considered family by Julie.

     Julie is preceded in death by her parents and one nephew, Kevin Janish.
