     Jacob A. Wald, 31, of Aberdeen, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, following a brief illness.

     His memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, with Father Michael Griffin officiating.

     No visitation will be held before the service.

     Memorials will be directed to the Avera Foundation or LifeSource.

     Jacob A. Wald was born on February 5, 1986, to Gary Wald and Penny Dix in Aberdeen, SD.  This is the area where he was raised and attended school, graduating from Aberdeen Central High School with the Class of 2004.  Following graduation, Jacob furthered his education at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minnesota, where he majored in graphic design.

     Jacob then returned to Aberdeen and began his own business called “Jacob Wald Design”.  In addition to running his business, Jacob was also employed at Minerva’s Restaurant in Aberdeen at the time of his death.

     Jacob enjoyed creating his art and graphic design, music, skateboarding, biking, camping and spending time with his friends.  Jacob’s final act of kindness was to give the gift of life through organ, eye, and tissue donation.

     Jacob is survived by his father, Gary Wald and Sherri Neiber of Aberdeen; his mother and stepfather, Penny (Lonnie) Frost of Aberdeen; one brother, Jordan Wald of Aberdeen; his paternal grandmother, Bernice Wald; his maternal grandparents, Glenn (Sharel) Dix and Larry (Connie) Frost; and his aunts, uncles, and cousins:  Peggy (Craig) Bieber, and their children, Eric (Megan) Payne and Kristin (Jake) Harms, Steve (Cindy) Wald and their children, Zach (Jackie) Wald and Max Wald, Doug (Kelli) Wald and their children: Dillon, Hannah and Abbey Wald,  John (Anastasia) Wald and their children: Sarah, Samantha, Alyssa and Lindsey Wald, Shelly and Warren Rice and their children, Nick and Gabe, and Scott and Shari Dix and their children: Josh, Amanda and Jared.

     His paternal grandfather, Lawrence Wald and maternal grandmother, Karen Dix preceded Jacob in death.
