I was privileged to know Hank from about age 12, when we met in junior high. He was a good man and was someone that everyone liked. There are few men who can match that description. My prayers are with all members of his family.

SO sorry to hear of Hank's passing. He was my Elementary PE Teacher and was a wonderful teacher. I'm sure he is walking with Jesus in Heaven.

I was privileged to have had MR Nikolas as a PE teacher at Simmons. later I got to know him when I worked at the Elks. What great teacher & man is was! He will be missed by many. My prayers are with you all at this time of sorrow. God Bless you all

We are so sorry to hear of your loss. Enjoyed having him for gym teacher at Monroe. Had to chuckle about him being a life-long member of Schwan's Recreation. There are probably a few other northsiders who can claim that, too.

Just by chance I heard of Hank's passing. Such wonderful memories of Hank and Sharon as my parents' (Mary Lou and Gene Welk) neighbors at their condo in Aberdeen. Hank was a lovely and kind man with a great sense of humor. Sending love to his family.

Mr. Nikolas was my PE teacher in elementary school. He always had a smile on his face and you could really tell he loved his job. After leaving elementary school I would see him from time to time and he always said hello and greeted me by name. He was one of me favorites. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten.

Hank will be missed by many people. He was remembered by many people who had him as a gym teacher, who had him as a drivers ed instructor, and those who knew him personally. Prayers to all of his family and friends. God bless you.

Hank was a wonderful man. So very cordial and friendly. Always had a wonderful time with Hank, Dave and the Nikolas family around their dinner table. I was fortunate to have Hank as my drivers ed instructor as well. While driving for Hank is when I realized that he was a brave and patient man. Blessings and love to the Nikolas family. So sorry to hear about this. He was my elementary gym teacher and he was always so nice. He would always stop and visit with me when I would occasionally see him at Walmart. Marie and I were friends and rode horses together when we were younger. Will be keeping all of you in my prayers. He will be missed!

My condolences to the entire Nickolas family. I student taught with your dad in 1983 while a student at NSU. He was kind and thoughtful and had an attitude that was beyond positive! The kids loved him and he always listened to what they had to say with great sincerity. I remembered that when I began my career. He made everyday fun and an adventure. He was an awesome guy to be around and I was blessed to have him as a supervising teacher. He was an excellent role model!

Hank was a wonderful man and will be missed dearly. He was my elementary PE teacher and my driver's ed. instructor, but much more a family friend who touched my life in many ways. Hank always put a smile on my face. God Bless him and his loved ones.
