Mass of Christian Burial for Donna J. Schaible, 87, of Aberdeen, SD, will be 11:00 am, Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 409 3rd Avenue SE, Aberdeen, with Fr. Mark Lichter as celebrant.  

Her wishes were to be cremated with a private family interment being held at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Aberdeen.  

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary & Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.

Donna passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen.

Ma Donna Jean Koenig was born August 2, 1930 to Alfred and Cora Belle (Harvey) Koenig in Webster, S.D.  She attended the Barrie School while growing up on a farm east of Turton, S.D.  Donna attended Turton High School until her senior year, when her family moved to Mellette, S.D., where she graduated in 1949.

After graduation, Donna moved to Aberdeen and held various employment positions, including International Harvester and Eddie’s Bakery.  In 1955, Donna was transferred to Bismarck, N.D. with Eddie’s Bakery.  After one and a half years she went to work at the Bank of North Dakota for over seven years.  Donna returned to Aberdeen in 1964 and was employed at the Aberdeen Country Club for six months, when she became employed by First National Bank for the following 23 years.  

On March 22, 1964, Donna married Vern Schaible in Britton, S.D. They made their home in Aberdeen.  After retiring from First National/Norwest Bank in 1987, Donna became involved in Vern’s business, Janitor Supply Company, until the business was sold in February 1997.  

Donna was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.  Her hobbies included bowling, fishing, watching MN Twins baseball and going to music (polka) festivals in nearby states.

Donna is survived by stepdaughter, Deborah (David) Marihart of Dumont, MN; stepson, Gregory (Mary) Schaible of Lakeville, MN; two grandchildren, Joseph (Tami) Schaible and Christiana (Andrew) Mueller; four great-grandchildren:  Allysha, Dylan, Devin and Cheyenne Schaible; sisters, Florence Ryan and Mavis Weigandt; and several loving nieces, nephews and cousins.  

In addition to her husband and parents, Donna was preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters and their spouses.   

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Aberdeen S.D.
