Betty R. Torrence, 91, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Lennox, SD.

A memorial service for Betty will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Aberdeen Christian Fellowship located at 214 First Avenue S. E. in Aberdeen. **

Betty’s wishes were to be cremated, so there will be no visitation.

Betty was born on August 19, 1926, in Aberdeen to Louis and Julia Lauzen. Betty grew up in Aberdeen with her nine siblings. She graduated from Central High School.

Betty married Floyd Arthur Torrence in 1948 and they moved to Northville, SD, where they farmed. They had five children. They divorced in 1962 and Betty and the children moved back to Aberdeen, where she raised her children. After the children were grown, Betty worked at a variety of jobs before going to 3 M where she worked for fifteen years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Grateful to have shared in Betty’s life are her children: Jack (Laura) Torrence of Westport, SD, Terry (Marilyn) Torrence of Phoenix, AZ, Julie (Randy) Heider of Tea, SD and Dean (Sherry) Torrence of Lennox, SD; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; one son, Randy; three grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters.
