Betty Ann Harrington was born January 17, 1938, on her grandparent’s farm near Burdette, SD, to Harold and Alice (Walton) Harrington.  She grew up and attended 12 years of school in Wessington, SD, graduating from Wessington High at the top of her class in May of 1956.

Betty married Lyle “Tuffy” Orr on June 17, 1956.  They were blessed with two children, Denise and David.  The family resided in Wessington until 1965, when they moved to Aberdeen.  Betty and Tuffy shared over 60 years of marriage before he passed away, just one week earlier, on April 15, 2017.

Betty was very involved in the sport of bowling, serving on the Aberdeen Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors for 30+ years.  She attended many city, state and national tournaments.  She was inducted into the Aberdeen Women’s Hall of Fame in 2005.  Betty got her family into the sport and was thrilled to be able to bowl in several tournaments with her daughter, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.  When she turned 55, she started participating in Senior Games around the state, attending the State Games and several National Senior Games.  Betty and Tuffy were inducted into the State Senior Games Hall of Fame in 2010.

Betty was an avid sports fan and attended all of her family’s games.  She greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her home was always open to them and their friends, especially Erik, Eric, and Amber, whom she considered her bonus grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Ray) Huber; son, David Orr; grandchildren:  Zach (Marlene) Orr, Kim Mills, and Samantha Huber; great-granddaughters: Isabel Mills, Zoey Orr, and Kiera Mills; step-great-granddaughters, Ashley Swanson, Teresa (Tyler) Venables, and Briana Houston; sisters, Evelyn Butts and Dorothy (Kieth) Willard; brother, Richard (Jeannie) Harrington; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Tuffy; her parents; sister, Joan Davis; and brother-in-law, Jack Duxbury.
