Betty “Kaye” (Smith) Caron of Redfield, SD, passed away peacefully in song on Monday, October, 16, 2017, surrounded by family, after a long battle with her health, at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital in Aberdeen, SD.

A casual memorial ceremony will be held at the Eastern Star Home Chapel, 126 West 12th Avenue, in Redfield, SD, on Saturday, October 21st at 10:00 a.m.

Kaye's wishes were to be cremated, with her ashes buried on Cemetery Island in Alaska with her parents.

Schriver’s Memorial Mortuary and Crematory, 414 5th Avenue NW, Aberdeen, is in charge of arrangements.  Friends may sign her online guestbook at www.schriversmemorial.com.

Kaye was born October 11, 1950, to Lewis Riley and Juanita (Caruthers) Smith in Borger, TX. As a child, her father’s job had them moving often. She graduated from Palmdale High School, in Palmdale, CA, and was employed by the phone company for many years.

She enjoyed cross-stitching, doing family ancestry work, making homemade banana pudding, and spending time with family and friends. Kaye was able to make friends wherever she went. Her joy was her dog “Lilly”.

Grateful for sharing her life are children: Anna (Mike) Rohrbach, Vicki (Britt) Jones, and Russell IV (Julie) Schoengarth; nine grandchildren: David, Candace, Michael, Christian, Rebecca, Brooke, Hannah, Russell V, and Gage; and five great-grandchildren whom she loved to spoil: Lacey, Lexie, Elizabeth, Peyton, and Briella. She is also survived by her brothers, Jim and Pat (JoJo) Smith; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, and special friends, Bernice Rohrbach and Jennifer Bullough.

She is preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, her brother Mike, and one great-grandchild, Charlie, as well as her beloved pet, “Bess”.

Memorials may be sent to the family of Kaye Smith at 1002 W 3rd St. Redfield, SD  57469.
